i am tired of the old world
with its rusted monuments
and its grey and black
tarnished buildings

i am tired of this old self
and would be rid of it
as always
if i hadn't tried that before

a flight to anywhere
won't do it anylonger
and even if i think
that the south is calling

or the east holds a promise,
there truly, only, stays nothing,
no respite, no reconciliation,
just treaded water, burnt skin
